‘My experience enables me to communicate complex accounting and valuation issues in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders. Being located in Western Australia, I aim to provide both industry insights (predominantly resources focussed) as well as the requisite accounting and valuation expertise’.

John is an Executive Director in the forensic team of KordaMentha in Perth where his work includes:

  • preparation of reports for forensic and other purposes, and
  • valuation of business, shares and other equity for financial reporting, taxation, dispute resolution and other strategic purposes.

John has given evidence in all Court jurisdictions in Australia, including the Federal, Supreme, County, Family and District Courts in both Victoria and Western Australia. He has also given evidence in a number of matters subject to complex arbitration procedures.

Significant Engagements

  • Glencore Xstrata plc – review of valuations of various Australian mineral assets (including coal, nickel and zinc) prepared by Glencore in relation to its acquisition of Xstrata plc in 2013 and preparation of reports in relation thereto for stamp duty purposes.
  • Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd – valuation of equity in Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd for CGT purposes and valuation of starting base assets of the Hope Downs Joint Venture for MRRT purposes.
  • State Solicitors Office – review of a valuation of a proposed port development in Western Australia for dispute resolution purposes.
  • Financial due diligence undertaken on behalf of a consortium comprising EMR Capital and Farallon Capital Asia in relation to the consortium’s $1.2 billion acquisition of the Martabe gold mine in Sumatra in Indonesia in 2015.
  • Adelaide Oval SMA – preparation of a financial model to assist stakeholders (including SACA and SANFL) make informed decisions about the economic benefits likely to result from a move to a redeveloped Adelaide Oval.
  • Equinox Minerals Ltd – preparation of financial information for public documents in relation to Equinox’s proposed take-over of Lundin plc.
