Frequently asked questions

How is KordaMentha different from other accounting firms?

KordaMentha is more than an accounting firm, it is an advisory and investment firm with business specialists across a number of disciplines. Unlike other firms, we don't offer tax and audit, rather we challenge our graduates to use their degree differently with opportunities in our Restructuring, Forensic and Financial Crime service lines. Our graduates benefit from continued exposure with some of the most experienced professionals in their respected fields and typically move through the business faster than possible at larger organisations.

What type of work will I be doing?

No two days at KordaMentha are the same. Over the course of your career, you will work on many different and challenging engagements. You will work with industry leaders on both formal and informal work.

Do you do rotations?

No, at KordaMentha we don't have rotations in our graduate or vacation programs, rather we recruit for a specific service line. We give our graduates the opportunity to sink their teeth into meaningful and often complex assignments, learning from some of the most experienced professionals in their respected fields.

Am I eligible to apply?

For graduate and vacationer roles within KordaMentha, we can only accept applications from Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents (inc. NZ Citizens). For Restructuring and Forensic Accounting, we look for candidates with a Commerce or related degree, preferably majoring in Accounting. For Forensic Technology, we look for candidates with an Information Technology or Computer Science related degree. For Financial Crime, we look for candidates with a Business or Finance related degree.

I'm in my first year at university, do you have any opportunities?

Unfortunately we do not have any opportunities for first year students, however we offer vacation placements for students in their penultimate year, and graduate positions for graduating/recently graduated students.

When can I expect to hear from you?

Unlike some other firms, we don't do rolling recruitment. To give everyone a fair chance, we have opening and closing dates for each state, and will begin shortlisting once the applications have closed. This can take some time as we have multiple position openings available at one time but we will get in contact with all applicants as soon as possible.

What's the career progression like at KordaMentha?

KordaMentha believe in recognising and rewarding performance. Typically our graduates are promoted to a Senior Business Analyst after one year of working with us, with reviews conducted every six months to recognise their achievements. Working with our senior leaders and mentors, our graduates are fully supported to excel in their career.

If I wanted to do CA or CPA, does KordaMentha support this?

We are a Chartered Accounting firm and recommend all our professional staff to attain this qualification. Some staff may choose to undertake CPA instead, and we provide financial and study support for both of these.

What sort of training will I be provided with?

KordaMentha fully support and encourage professional development to all of our team, whether it be attending our KordaMentha Business School or training webinars, or completing their CA or other relevant courses. We also assign buddies/mentors each of our graduates to provide them with further on the job training and professional advice throughout their career.
