EducationA leading regional university embarked on a whole-of-institution transformation program and required a robust process mapping capability to support its delivery.
KordaMentha was engaged to design and implement a fit-for-purpose framework, governance structure and resourcing model to embed process management across the University.
The engagement aimed to ensure the University had the tools, systems and skills to mature its process capability over time. This included developing a prioritisation roadmap, testing assumptions through pilot mapping sprints, and transferring knowledge to internal teams to sustain the capability beyond the initial program.
How we helped
KordaMentha applied a structured methodology to define and deliver a scalable process mapping capability. We worked closely with stakeholders to benchmark frameworks, select appropriate systems, and align priorities with the transformation agenda.
We ran pilot and sprint sessions to test effort and validate resourcing assumptions, while building a backlog of processes for future implementation. Training and handover sessions ensured internal capability uplift and continuity.
- Assessed capability requirements and system options
- Benchmarked frameworks across the sector
- Designed a four-level process mapping framework
- Defined governance and ownership protocols
- Mapped key corporate and student-facing processes
- Built a prioritised backlog aligned to transformation goals
- Delivered training and handover to internal analysts
Outcomes acheived
- Framework and governance delivered: A sector-appropriate process mapping framework and governance model were developed to guide consistent practice and ensure clear ownership of processes across the University.
- Capability uplift and continuity: Internal analysts were trained through pilot and sprint sessions, with documentation and handover materials provided to embed knowledge and support long-term capability development.
- Validated process maps: Key corporate and student-facing processes were mapped to test workflow assumptions, refine the framework, and demonstrate how the capability supports transformation delivery.
- Prioritised implementation backlog: A backlog of process mapping priorities was created, aligned to the University’s strategic transformation goals and ready for phased implementation.
- System selection and integration: A fit-for-purpose process mapping tool was identified through benchmarking and stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment with sector standards and internal requirements.
- Transformation enablement: The capability now supports the University’s broader transformation program, providing structure, visibility and momentum for change.
