KordaMentha is pleased to announce the appointment of one of Australia’s most respected business leaders, Scott Tanner, as a Partner in its Performance Improvement business and leader of its Financial Services industry team.
Mr Tanner brings more than 35 years of experience across financial services, corporate turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, technology solutions and digital transformation. His appointment strengthens KordaMentha’s ability to help organisations navigate complex challenges and unlock sustainable growth.
KordaMentha Co-Founder and CEO Mark Korda said Scott joins the firm at a time of significant growth for the business.
“We pride ourselves on helping clients grow, adapt and build value,” he said. “Scott’s background in financial services, digital transformation and business leadership is a welcome addition to the firm’s capability, and his appointment is another example of our focus on recruiting genuine experts with notable hands-on experience.”
Mr Tanner has held senior executive roles at some of Australia’s most prominent organisations, including Westpac where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Digital Officer, and CEO at Bank of Melbourne. Prior to this Scott was a Director at global strategy consulting firm Bain & Company and Head of Bain’s Financial Services Practice in the Asia Pacific. He has served on numerous boards, and is currently Executive Chairman of luxury real estate firm Kay & Burton, Managing Director of finance brokerage firm GreenBack Capital, and Chairman of IMRA.
Mr Korda said Mr Tanner’s appointment brings a distinguished track record in developing and executing transformational corporate strategies, leading turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, and driving growth across multiple sectors.
“We have always looked to hire outstanding people to do outstanding work for our clients, and Scott’s experience will continue to enhance our ability to do so,” he said.
Mr Tanner said he was looking forward to joining an Australian firm recognised for solving some of the biggest challenges in the region, and one trusted by the most senior decision makers across business and government.
“KordaMentha’s focus on building deep industry expertise sets it apart from generalist advisory firms. As with all sectors, the financial services sector is evolving rapidly with new technologies and changing consumer expectations, and KordaMentha is exceptionally well placed to help clients navigate, adapt and thrive. I’m excited to join such a respected firm and contribute to its ongoing success.”
Scott’s appointment follows a series of recent senior partner hires as the firm has continued to expand its services and industry expertise. These include Luke Halliday, formerly Chief Technology Officer at the Victorian Government, and Matt Chessel from Charter X which was acquired earlier in the year as the firm bolstered its Technology, Data and AI capability. Michael Fung, Eddy Moussa, Sharee Bartlett, Jenny Bridge, Sean Madigan and Paul McArthur have also joined as partners in the last six months.
