About

Jessica is a highly experienced legal advisor specialising in complex tax disputes and regulatory engagement. With over ten years’ experience as a qualified solicitor, and more than seven years’ experience in tax, she has led high stakes tax matters on behalf of a large range of clients, from private individuals to multinational corporations.

Known for her strategic thinking, Jessica has managed broad teams, instructed senior counsel, and negotiated successful outcomes with the ATO across a range of industries.

Before joining KordaMentha, Jessica worked at a global consulting firm, where she assisted clients to resolve complex risk reviews and audits, and to navigate alternative dispute resolution pathways, objections and litigation. She also led large-scale document review and discovery processes on behalf of clients in response to ATO information requests and statutory notices, ensuring maintenance of legal professional privilege and confidentiality.

Jessica brings a collaborative, calm and solutions-focused approach to all client engagements. Her strengths lie in tax technical excellence, stakeholder management, and translating complex legal concepts into clear advice for clients.

Significant Engagements

  • Advised a multinational taxpayer in the infrastructure sector through a significant ATO audit and settlement process, which involved complex legacy transactions and the application of Part IVA, ultimately resulting in a favourable settlement.
  • Assisted a large logistics business in negotiating a multi-million dollar settlement with the ATO, addressing transfer pricing and deductibility issues across multiple income years.
  • Assisting taxpayers with ATO risk reviews involving matters such as the tax treatment of capital returns, restructuring involving consolidated and MEC Groups, and inbound and outbound financing.
  • Assisting clients in seeking private binding rulings and advance clearance from the ATO.
  • Assisting clients in anticipation of a review, including the provision of advice on tax governance and tax risk management procedures.
