About

Dave is a Director in KordaMentha’s Public Sector team, specialising in Defence and National Security.

For over 20 years, Dave has worked with a wide range of clients and stakeholders to support major programs across the Maritime Defence enterprise, while also applying his skills and knowledge outside Defence in Asset Management and Systems Engineering Advisory.

Dave’s skillset lies in complex problem solving, identifying root causes while developing solutions to ensure client leadership can make informed decisions on optimal pathways for resolution.

Dave is familiar with all stages of the capability lifecycle, having led teams covering early feasibility studies through to in-service support of major fleet units. He has led teams designing, testing and implementing key hull integrity systems on the Collins Class Submarines, while he has also contributed to assurance activities related to major capability upgrades for surface combatants. He has experience in running procurement and evaluation activities using ASDEFCON templates from gaining delegate approvals to implementation.

Significant Engagements

  • Led the commercial and engineering streams and stakeholder engagement to implement Standing Offer Panels for ADF Dive equipment, using ASDEFCON templates
  • Performed an Assurance role on behalf of the CoA ensuring that industry partners were progressing as required in preparation for the Destroyer Capability Enhancement program
  • Delivered a feasibility study into land-based testing of the future submarine propulsion system, with follow on taskings to develop concepts with the program office and DSTG to inform government decisions on the submarine design
  • Led a specialised team to assess Collins Class Submarine maintenance effectiveness, using structured analysis and deep technical expertise to identify improvement opportunities
  • Led the technical review of an automated warehouse concept, assessing its alignment with supply chain and engineering standards to determine readiness for detailed design
