Overview How we helped Outcomes acheived

A KordaMentha Partner led the redesign and implementation of a new IT strategy and operating model for a large critical infrastructure business operating across aviation, parking, ground access, property and retail.

The centralised IT function had become slow, costly and difficult to engage, prompting seven business units to run their own projects and systems. Shadow IT was widespread, and the portfolio consistently under-delivered. The function was fragmented, low in maturity, and focused on servicing ad hoc demand rather than delivering strategic value.

We were engaged to reset the IT function, improve service delivery, and reposition IT as a credible and responsive business partner.

How we helped

Using a structured IT operating model framework, we delivered a full transformation program.

  • Reviewed IT maturity, spend, portfolio and stakeholder perceptions across business units
  • Designed a domain-aligned operating model with clear accountability and decision rights
  • Restructured the IT organisation, rebalancing insourcing and outsourcing arrangements
  • Implemented new governance to prioritise investments and track delivery performance
  • Renegotiated vendor contracts and service models to restore trust and deliver cost savings
  • Realigned the data and analytics program through targeted workshops
  • Defined and initiated a modern platforms strategy covering cloud, data centre and core systems

Outcomes acheived

  • Operating model transformation: New structure and governance established, restoring IT’s credibility
  • Performance uplift: Project delivery improved by 80 percent with stronger prioritisation
  • Operational resilience: Incident response improved, reducing outages and airport disruption
  • Commercial savings: Vendor renegotiations delivered multi-year savings
  • Staff satisfaction: Improved engagement and reduced shadow IT
  • Strategic alignment: IT repositioned as a trusted partner across business units
  • Governance uplift: Clearer accountability and investment oversight
  • Platform modernisation: Strategy initiated for cloud and infrastructure upgrades
