Frequently Asked Questions

Program Eligibility

We are only able to accept applications from candidates who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents for our Australian roles.

Graduate Program

You are eligible for our Graduate Program if you are currently in your final year of study or have completed your university studies up to 24 months prior to application.

Vacationer Program

You are eligible for our Vacationer (internship) Program if you are in your penultimate year of studies, graduating in 2026 and ready to join our full-time Graduate program in 2027. 

 

 

How do I apply and when will I hear back from you?

Head to the KordaMentha Student and Graduate Careers page to submit an online application form. The form will ask you a number of questions, and you will need to upload a CV and an official copy of your academic transcript. 

You will hear from the People and Culture team after the closing date. We will notify both successful and unsuccessful candidates of the outcome of their application.

What will the recruitment process look like?

Depending on the service line you are applying to the process varies. However, we are committed to delivering a consistent and timely process for all candidates throughout the recruitment and selection experience. 

At a high level the recruitment process would be as follows: 

Application stage

Complete the online application form.

Phone interview stage
Shortlisted applicants will receive a screening call from our talent acquisition team.

Assessment centre

Successful candidates will be invited to attend a half-day assessment centre consisting of two half-hour interviews and a coffee catch-up with Analysts.
 
Candidates who are applying for roles in the Restructuring service line will participate in an additional group case study activity.

Partner interview

Successful candidates will be invited to a final round interview with a Partner of the firm. 

Outcomes

All candidates will receive notification of their application outcome as soon as possible. 

If your final stage assessment is successful, the team will be in touch with next steps on your offer. 

For candidates who are unsuccessful this time, you’re always welcome to reapply for future program intakes where eligibility requirements are permitted.

Application stage

  • •    Provide us with as much information as possible, demonstrating your enthusiasm and what makes you stand out as a candidate. 
  • •    Tailor your CV and application to showcase the relevance of your experience and interest in the service line/s you are applying for. 
  • •    Double check spelling and grammar in your cover letter and CV to ensure that there are no errors. 
 

Interview stage

  • •    Be authentic, you'll feel more comfortable and able to showcase your different qualities to us. 
  • •    Use specific examples to structure responses that help highlight your relevant skills and past achievements. 
  • •    Research KordaMentha ahead of your interview so you have a basic understanding of what we do, the industries we make an impact in and our values. 
  • •    Prepare a few questions to ask your interviewer about the role, service line, or company culture to demonstrate your interest and help you assess if we are the right fit for you. 

What qualifications do you look for?

Restructuring

Students with a Commerce or Business degree background, majoring in Accounting, Finance or Economics would be ideal.

A combined degree of Commerce and Law is also favourable.

Forensic Advisory

Students studying towards all degrees are considered, however, a Commerce or Business degree majoring in Accounting would be ideal.

Forensic Technology

Students studying towards a standalone Computer Science, IT and Law degree, or any of these degrees combined with Commerce would be considered.

Forensic Data Analytics

Students studying towards a standalone Data Analytics and Computer Science degree, or any of these degrees combined with a Commerce or Business degree would be considered.

Major Projects Advisory

Students studying towards a standalone Engineering or property relevant degree, or any of these degrees combined with a Commerce or Business degree would be considered. 

A combined degree of Engineering and Commerce would be ideal. 

Financial Crime

Students studying towards Commerce, Law or Criminology degrees would be considered. 
 

When are applications open?

Applications for the 2025/26 Graduate program will be open from Monday 24th February 2025 to Monday 31st of March 2025.

When do the KordaMentha Graduate and Vacationer Programs commence?

In general, graduates commence at KordaMentha at the beginning of February of the year following recruitment (i.e., Feb 2026 for those who are successful with their 2025 applications). You will attend our national graduate induction with all other graduates in the same cohort across the country.

Vacationers typically join KordaMentha in either July, late November or early January each year for four or eight week-long placements.

KordaMentha is a boutique consultancy and as such allows individuals to get great exposure to a variety of work. We are a team-based environment where importance is placed on the sharing of knowledge and developing client relationships at all levels. Our graduates work on a variety of engagements and will exposed to a number of different industries.

What does career progression look like at KordaMentha?

KordaMentha is committed to the continuous development of its staff with evaluation reviews carried out every six months, with the main performance evaluation in June. You will be supported throughout your career with the firm from the early stages of induction, through to training, goal setting mentoring, leadership development and performance assessment through a firmwide competency framework.

Will I be supported to continue further professional studies at KordaMentha?

KordaMentha is a strong advocate for continuous learning and is committed to providing an environment in which our staff can develop their professional skills. 

We currently provide financial and study support in the form of study support materials, mentoring, paid study leave per module and fee subsidies for the following programs:

  • •    Chartered Accountant (CA)

  • •    Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)

  • •    Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

  • •    Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Around Association (ARITA) Advanced Certification 

The firm will also provide support for other programs, staff are welcome to propose relevant programs of interest with their manager and mentor when discussing personal development plans.

In Australia, our footprint is nationwide. Our head office is in Melbourne with other offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Townsville.
