Founded in 1952, the Jayco Herald Sun Tour is Australia's oldest cycling stage race and will celebrate 61 years of cycling on February 5-6. The Tour is a major professional teams-based event which includes some of the best cyclists from Australia and all over the world.

KordaMentha Real Estate are team sponsors of the Tour and naming sponsors of the Prologue stage, a spectator friendly event through the heart of Melbourne. This stage will kick the Tour off on February 5, with the event culminating with a final stage party on Arthurs Seat on February 9.

Watson’s performance last year, taking out the 60th edition of the event on his 20th birthday, was a key catalyst in his signing with World Tour outfit Trek Factory Racing and he has said he's excited at this late opportunity to defend his title.

The KordaMentha Real Estate Team includes a number of impressive up and coming cyclists:

  • Glenn O'Shea
  • Matthew Clarke
  • Pat Shaw
  • Chris Jory
  • Matthew Lloyd
  • Calvin Watson.
Berrick Wilson, Partner of KordaMentha Real Estate, said he was proud to support the team and feels that the sponsorship agreement was a natural fit.

“The young stars of the KordaMentha-Team Australia have shown an incredible amount of discipline, dedication and aspiration to get where they are and we believe that our team have the same attributes, driving them to achieve excellent results.”

The prologue stage, presented by KordaMentha Real Estate, will see riders race against the clock in the 2.5 kilometre individual time trial from Birrarung Marr to Southbank, to see who ends the day in the leader's yellow jersey. Teams will be presented prior to the start of the Prologue in Federation Square and there will be plenty of great spectator points throughout the stage.

The following four stages will see the riders travelling to major regional towns of Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Nagambie before finishing on challenging Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula.
