Chain Reaction was awarded the honour at the Institute’s Christmas Cocktail Party on 3 December 2012.

This is a wonderful recognition of Berrick’s vision and contribution to the philanthropic sector through the creation and development of the Chain Reaction Foundation, which KordaMentha is proud to be a founding partner of.

Chain Reaction was founded in 2007 by Berrick, after his daughter was rushed to hospital with a brain haemorrhage when she was two days old. It’s the ultimate corporate bike challenge, raising money for sick children by challenging senior executives who have a passion for cycling and an awareness of their corporate and social responsibilities, to ride a 1,000 kilometre course in seven days. Since its first ride in 2007, Chain Reaction has raised over $7.3 million on behalf of its charity partners, including the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

Berrick is in esteemed company with other Life Governors of the Institute including Mr Frank Lowy AC, Mr John David, Mrs Barbara Ell, the late Lady Finley, Mr Robert Oatley, Mr Steven Lowy AM, Mrs Jennie Thomas, Lady Mary Fairfax AM, OBE, Mr Ziggy Switkowski, Mr Sam Chisholm, Mr James Packer, Mr Lance Rosenberg, Mr Mark Johnson, Mr and Mrs David and Diana Ritchie, the late Mr Ken Lee, Mrs Roslyn Packer, AO, Mr Lionel Lee and others.

KordaMentha congratulates Berrick and all of those involved in the success of the Chain Reaction Challenge and this new honour.
