Swinburne University awarded Mark Korda an honorary Doctor of Business degree in recognition of his significant contribution to Australian business.

Mark has been acknowledged as being one of Australia’s leading specialists in business recovery and restructuring.

Mark started his professional career with Arthur Andersen, spending 24 years with the multinational accounting firm until 2001. During this time, he held various management positions, including Director of Corporate Finance, Managing Partner, Asia Pacific Corporate Recovery Services Practice, and Member of the Australian Executive Committee and Board of Partners.

Together with business partner Mark Mentha, he established KordaMentha, an advisory and investment firm that provides forensic, real estate, investment, turnaround and restructuring services in 2002. The firm now has over 350 specialists across Asia-Pacific with diverse backgrounds – in finance and real estate through to law enforcement and technology.

Mark is a Registered Liquidator and Official Liquidator of the Supreme and Federal courts; member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; and member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association.

Mark is also the Vice President and Director of the Collingwood Football Club and holds numerous directorships.

Along with commercial enterprises, he is also involved in community initiatives with KordaMentha.  Notably, Friday Night School, which provides tutoring and scholarships to students from non-English speaking backgrounds every Friday night during school term. KordaMentha is also the principal sponsor of Chain Reaction, a charity that has raised and distributed over $25 million in ten years to children’s charities.

Mark has a strong connection to Swinburne University and is a member of the Swinburne Business School Industry Advisory Board and supports the Work Integrated Learning program, which gives students the opportunity to undertake paid professional placements as part of their course.
