Oz Minerals to plan Whyalla investment

KordaMentha Restructuring  said an Arrium subsidiary, OneSteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed), had executed a Memorandum of Understanding with Oz Minerals Carrapateena Pty Ltd (Oz Minerals).

 

The MoU relates to Oz Minerals completing an engineering design study to consider using OneSteel property in Whyalla for the establishment of a Concentrate Treatment Plant. 

 

The MoU covers the use of OneSteel's Whyalla Port Facility and other OneSteel infrastructure, including land.

 

Administrator Mark Mentha said: “This is a significant event for the Whyalla community. To execute a MoU with such a high quality counterparty in Oz Minerals provides a wonderful opportunity for the town.”

 

The project, if completed, would provide  revenue for OneSteel through a sale or lease of land and payments for the use of the infrastructure.

 

“It is also a vote of confidence in the town of Whyalla. It will create jobs and lift confidence,” he said.
