As KordaMentha celebrates its 20th anniversary, the AFR's Chanticleer columnist James Thomson caught up with founders Mark Korda and Mark Mentha to discuss the secrets of their success.

Sitting in the famous University Café in Melbourne, the very spot where they broke the news that they were going out on their own, Mark Korda and Mark Mentha reflected on their long-term partnership and 20-year journey of KordaMentha.

Since emerging from the wreckage of Arthur Andersen in 2002 as an insolvency firm of 46 people, KordaMentha has come a long way, now a diverse investment and advisory firm, employing almost 400 people across Australia and Asia-Pacific. 

But at the heart of the KordaMentha story is a fascinating business partnership that is now in its 43rd year – or, as Mentha likes to say, more than three times the average Australian marriage.
