James Wijemanne

James is a collaborative leader who has established and led programs and projects across which vary in both complexity and value across all stages of the project life cycle.

His professional experience over the last 20+ years across the private and public sector in Australia and New Zealand. James' strong interpersonal skills and experience in leading programs and projects in transport, education, arts and utilities in both the public and private sector have helped him achieve innovative and successful outcomes through complex and sensitive environments which are tailored to the specific needs of his Clients.

As an engineer, James is motivated by delivering outcomes that are efficient in their delivery and sustainable in their long term operations and believes that the best outcomes are those which are delivered through collaboration and focus on a common and shared goal.

Significant engagements

• State Project Lead for a $1.7B public transport project. James established and led the program which included legal, transaction, technical, operational, contract and commercial, program management, and technology delivery streams. James also established inter-agency and intergovernmental governance arrangements and led the negotiation of the agreement between State and Local Government to deliver the project. 
• Project Director for the procurement of the $5B+ South East Queensland bus service contracts. This involved modernising the existing service contracts to be performance based with improved customer outcomes. James led the project including technical delivery streams. These included managing the project management office, finance, contracts and commercial, legal, probity, operational and procurement streams from an executive level.
