Josh is a Partner in KordaMentha’s Public Sector team, specialising in Defence and National Security. He is an engineering and consulting professional with a passion for technology and innovation. For more than 20 years, Josh has been trusted by clients to help shape agendas, transform practices, and navigate complex strategic decisions. He has helped realise significant performance and cost improvements on major equipment and infrastructure, critically reviewed troubled programs, and prepared industrial policy for federal and state governments.​

Josh is skilled at addressing and solving complex program turnaround challenges, particularly when performance is impacted by multiple stakeholders across government and business sectors. He provides honest evidenced options enabling leaders to intervene effectively in critical situations involving capital, sustainment, estate, people, and data elements.

Significant engagements:

• Led strategic reviews and sustainment optimisation programs for Canberra Class Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD), Collins Class Submarines (including Life-of-Type-Extension), Gaudian Class and Cape Class Patrol Boats, and C130J Super Hercules aircraft.
• Program Manager and PMO lead for the $1B transformation of Engineering & IT at the University of Melbourne.
• Led strategic review, strategy development and business case preparation for defence innovation and higher education precinct for the University of Tasmania and Tasmanian Government. 
• Trusted advisor to the Australian Submarine Enterprise (via ASC Pty Ltd) for over a decade. Leading strategic reviews of Sustainment Cost, The Collins LOTE Program, Asset Management capability, and Organisational Quality and supporting the enhancement of key organisational capabilities. 
• Led the review and re-definement of asset and information management practices for Defence Security and Estate Group, supping Government maximise the value generated from Defence’s $68B property portfolio and extensive suite of services contracts.
• Supported three State Governments in developing Defence Industry strategies that sought to algin local investments with ADF priorities and increase the impact of differential capabilities.
• Supported four top Universities to better align their research and engagement strategies around strategic program, technology and workforce challenges in the Defence sector; improving alignment of IP and skill generation with current and emerging priorities.
