Priming for sustained growth for the benefit of the community
In June 2020, Mater achieved a significant milestone bringing together the three Mater ministries across North, South-East and Central Queensland under one entity. As part of the operational integration of the three regions, and in pursuit of the broader Mater strategy, a suite of operational and investment plans commenced. KordaMentha was engaged to partner with the Mater team to validate and assess the impact of various initiatives identified in the integration plan. Our team took ownership of developing a long-term financial model to quantify and test the financial impact of various scenarios put forward in the investment plans. The objective of the long-term financial model build was to create a dynamic and “fit-for-purpose” financial planning tool which:
Created alignment on the financial outcomes of operational and investment plans under development
Provided the board a mechanism to gain comfort that adequate financial resources would be available to achieve Mater’s strategy
Identified performance improvement opportunities through the utilisation of industry benchmarks
Streamlined existing finance processes including the annual budget build.
Over a three month period, the KordaMentha team supported the build of a 10-year financial model with a team of financial, operational and technical staff from Mater. At the completion of our engagement, Mater was provided with:
