As a long-time partner of the Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation, KordaMentha is once again looking forward to the Foundation’s seven-day cycling challenges returning in 2022.

This year will mark the 15th anniversary of the Chain Reaction Challenge since being founded by KordaMentha Partner Berrick Wilson. Seven KordaMentha riders from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will be taking on the intense challenge of cycling 1000kms over seven days, with each rider raising funds for the Foundation’s children's charity partners.

The rides can be gruelling, with cyclists often battling extreme weather conditions and both the physical and mental challenge over the seven days. For some, 2022 will be their maiden voyage. While for others, like Chain Reaction Challenge veteran Tom Davis, this isn't their first ride.

"This year will be my 8th Chain Reaction ride, and I am really looking forward to it," said Tom.

"Ultimately, I think what keeps bringing me back is not just the physicality and the mateship that goes with the ride, but also the feeling of pride and personal satisfaction for supporting children’s charities. You can really see the tangible differences from the money that is raised."

For Neil Hayward, this will be his second opportunity to take on the seven-day challenge.

"My first Chain Reaction ride was last year from Coffs Harbour to Sydney and I wasn't sure what I was getting into. When we finished, it was the first event that I didn't immediately say "I am never doing this again!" In fact, I really missed it[when it was over]. I missed the camaraderie on the road, the chat at the end of the day, but more importantly the stories and examples of why we were there.

Hearing from Berrick about his personal story in starting the event to help children like Milla, to some of the other riders who had also been impacted in a similar way and wanted to do something to repay their luck and contribute to others. It was, and is, really powerful."

Since its inception in 2007, the Chain Reaction Foundation has raised more than $33 million on behalf of its charity partners. To find out more visit www.chain-reaction.org.au.

Joining Tom and Neil in taking on the challenge in 2022 are Brad Bennett, Max Taylor, David Johnston and Aaron Swaffield.
